GTA 6 Features: Everything Confirmed So Far (2026)
Digital lifestyle

Every confirmed GTA 6 feature — release date, platforms, Jason and Lucia, Leonida and Vice City — plus what the official trailers show and what Rockstar has not announced. Updated September 2026.

With GTA 6 arriving on 19 November 2026, the gap between what Rockstar has actually confirmed and what circulates online has never been wider. This guide covers every GTA 6 feature that is officially confirmed, separates it clearly from what is merely shown in the official trailers, and is honest about the big questions Rockstar still has not answered.

We do not publish leaked material. Everything below is traceable to Rockstar Games, Take-Two, or footage Rockstar has released itself — which means you can rely on it.

GTA 6 features at a glance

Start here. This is every major Grand Theft Auto 6 feature people are asking about, sorted into what is confirmed, what has been shown in official footage, and what has not been announced at all.

The distinction matters. Plenty of “confirmed features” lists online mix in details from leaked material or fan speculation. Anything in the bottom section genuinely has no official answer yet — and treating it as settled is how misinformation spreads.

Release date, platforms and editions

GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those are the only platforms Rockstar has announced; the game is not coming to PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, and no PC version has been announced. Rockstar’s own page notes the game “plays best on PlayStation 5”.

There are two editions — Standard and Ultimate. Rockstar describes the Ultimate Edition as an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story. In the US the Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99; in the UK that is £69.99 and £89.99. Pricing in other markets follows the PlayStation and Xbox stores.

Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026 and digital pre-loads open on 12 November 2026. There is a full breakdown in our GTA 6 release date, price and platforms and GTA 6 price guide, plus a step-by-step pre-order guide.

Jason and Lucia: two playable protagonists

GTA 6 has two playable protagonists — Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — and Lucia is the first female lead in the series’ history. Rockstar has built the story around the pair, and the official trailers show them together across missions and the open world.

The characters, their relationship and the supporting cast go far deeper than we can cover here — we have a dedicated guide to the GTA 6 characters and story.

The setting: Leonida and Vice City

GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida, a modern-day take on Florida, with Vice City at its heart. It is the first mainline return to Vice City since 2002, and the trailers show a world spanning the city itself plus beaches, wetlands, waterways, highways and rural areas beyond it.

Rockstar has not published a map size figure, so any “twice the size of GTA 5” number you see is an estimate rather than an official statistic.

For the regions and locations shown so far, see our GTA 6 map guide — or explore them yourself on the interactive GTA 6 map.

What the official trailers show

Everything in this section comes from footage Rockstar has released. It is real — you can watch it — but Rockstar has not published mechanical detail for most of it, so treat it as “this is in the game” rather than “this is exactly how it works”.

Vehicles and driving

Driving is central, as always. The trailers show sports cars, everyday traffic, motorbikes, boats and jet skis across city streets, highways and open water. Rockstar has not published a vehicle list, count, or details of any customisation system.

Water, beaches and the coast

Leonida’s coastline is a genuine feature rather than scenery. Official footage shows characters swimming, beaches busy with crowds, boats on open water, and wetland and waterway areas. This is a noticeably bigger part of the world than in GTA 5.

Weapons, combat and police

Shootouts, armed robbery and police pursuits all feature in the trailers, including chases by road and air. Specific weapon lists, wanted-level mechanics and police AI behaviour have not been detailed by Rockstar.

Crowds, characters and world detail

The most striking thing in the footage is density: busy beaches, packed streets, crowded club interiors, and individually distinct NPCs. Character models, lighting, weather and water are a clear generational step up — though Rockstar has published no technical specifications, so resolution, frame rate and rendering features remain unconfirmed.

Social media, TV and radio satire

The trailers lean heavily on in-world social media clips, livestreams, news segments and radio — the series’ satire, updated for the short-video era. It is one of the most distinctive things about how GTA 6 presents its world.

Is GTA 6 multiplayer? What about GTA Online?

GTA 6 is a single-player experience at launch. That is confirmed — Rockstar’s own store FAQ states it plainly, and Take-Two reiterated it in June 2026. There is no GTA Online-style mode included when the game launches on 19 November 2026.

A separate online mode is widely expected to follow, but Rockstar has not confirmed one — no name, no date, no details. Anything you read about progression carrying over from GTA V’s GTA Online, returning-player bonuses or roleplay tools is speculation. What Take-Two has said is that the existing GTA Online will stay in market after GTA 6 arrives.

Cross-play, cross-progression and PC: not announced

These are the three most-asked GTA 6 questions with the clearest answer: Rockstar has not announced any of them.

There is no confirmed cross-play between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, no confirmed cross-progression, and no announced PC version — no release window, no system requirements. Historically Rockstar has brought GTA titles to PC later, but “historically” is not a confirmation, and any 2027 PC date you see is analyst speculation.

Because the game is single-player at launch, cross-play has nothing to apply to yet in any case. We keep the full cross-platform answer updated as Rockstar says more.

Getting ready for 19 November

If you are pre-ordering digitally, or want the balance sitting on your account before launch day, you can top up with a PlayStation Store gift card or an Xbox gift card — the code arrives by email and redeems straight to your account, no bank card needed.

Our GTA 6 countdown and launch checklist covers the rest of the pre-launch admin, and GTA 6 vs GTA 5 sets out what actually changes between the two.

How we source this page

Every feature above is traceable to an official Rockstar page or trailer, or to a Take-Two statement. We deliberately exclude material from the 2022 and 2026 gameplay leaks — it is unverified, Rockstar has never stood behind it, and a lot of it describes builds that changed. Where something is genuinely unknown, this page says so rather than filling the gap.

We update this page whenever Rockstar confirms something new.
