Ran out of Movistar call credit while in the USA? We have 3 easy ways for you to recharge for yourself or someone else in Mexico.

Any prepaid Movistar Mexico user knows how stressful it can be to run out of call credit or mobile data. Even more so when you’re abroad in the USA. If you find yourself in that situation, or if you want to support your loved ones in Mexico from a distance, you’re in the right place. Keep reading to find three ways to recharge Movistar from the USA – for yourself, or a loved one. Here’s how it works.

#1: Via the Mi Movistar / Movistar MX app

This is only an option if you are also a Movistar Mexico client. If so, you can download the Movistar MX app from anywhere in the world and register with your Movistar phone number. From then on, you can recharge your own or someone else’s Movistar Mexico phone anytime.

Good to know:

  • The first time you register in the app, you’ll receive 1 GB of free data, valid for 3 days. Please keep in mind that this data can only be used within Mexico.
  • You can only pay with a Mexican debit or credit card, or with a Mercado Pago account. If you’re not Mexican or have been living abroad for a long time, then you might not have access to any of these payment methods. In that case, please refer to our suggestions below.
  • The app is only available in Spanish. If you want to recharge Movistar in English, refer to our alternative suggestions below.

#2: Via the Recharge.com website

Recharge.com is a global platform where you can easily recharge any prepaid mobile phone in the world, from anywhere. That includes Mexico and, of course, Movistar Mexico.
