Two questions dominate every Wardogs discussion: can I play with my console friends<\/strong>, and when is it coming to PS5 and Xbox<\/strong>. One has a confirmed answer. The other does not, and plenty of sites are blurring the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is exactly what BULKHEAD and Team17 have said, and what they have pointedly not said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is Wardogs coming to PS5 and Xbox?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes \u2014 confirmed for 2028.<\/strong> BULKHEAD and Team17 announced console versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox on the game\u2019s Early Access launch day, 10 September 2026. It was part of the launch trailer announcement and was picked up across the games press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What has not<\/em> been said: no month, no quarter, and no confirmation of whether both consoles arrive together. 2028 is also a long runway \u2014 BULKHEAD has not announced when the PC version leaves Early Access either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is Wardogs crossplay?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Crossplay has not been announced.<\/strong> There is no statement from BULKHEAD or Team17, and the Steam page does not carry the Cross-Platform Multiplayer tag \u2014 it lists only Online PvP, Steam Achievements and Family Sharing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth being precise about why this matters right now: Wardogs is currently PC-only and Steam-only<\/strong>. There is no second platform for crossplay to connect to, and there will not be until 2028. Anyone telling you Wardogs “supports crossplay” today is describing something that has nothing to connect to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same goes for cross-progression<\/strong> \u2014 no statement exists about whether your PC account, cash, gold bars or cosmetics would carry to a console version. Given that wipes already reset cash and levels between update cycles, this is a genuinely open question rather than a safe assumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I play with friends?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On PC, yes \u2014 but not the way you expect. There is no pre-game party lobby<\/strong>. The reported method is to have one person join a server first, then the rest join them through Steam. (Player-reported.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about GeForce NOW?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This one is genuinely in flux. NVIDIA announced Wardogs for GeForce NOW at the Early Access launch, then posted that an anti-cheat conflict forced it to be paused<\/strong>. If cloud streaming is how you were planning to play, check the current GeForce NOW library before buying rather than relying on the launch announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why the anti-cheat drives most of this<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wardogs uses Elytra<\/strong>, a kernel-level anti-cheat, and you must accept a third-party EULA to play. That single technical choice explains the Linux position, the GeForce NOW pause and much of the Steam Deck pessimism \u2014 kernel-level anti-cheat is difficult to support outside plain Windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
