Rockstar has confirmed the date but has not published one universal Canadian unlock time. Canada spans several time zones, and digital storefront availability may depend on the platform and account region.
⏰ Canadian launch-time note: Treat 19 November 2026 as the confirmed GTA 6 release date. Do not present an assumed midnight time in Toronto, Vancouver or another city as the official national unlock time unless Rockstar or the relevant storefront confirms it.

GTA 6 release date for PS5
GTA 6 releases for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro on 19 November 2026.
The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as a PS5 game and PS5 Pro Enhanced. The 27 August Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game PS5 footage.
A PS5 GTA 6 bundle has not been announced. Any retailer page advertising an official console bundle should be checked carefully against PlayStation or Rockstar information.
GTA 6 release date for Xbox Series X|S
GTA 6 releases for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on 19 November 2026.
The Canadian Xbox Store lists the game as optimized for Xbox Series X|S. Xbox Series X and Series S players receive the same release date.
GTA 6 has not been announced as an Xbox Game Pass launch title. Players comparing subscriptions can read our Xbox Game Pass guide for Canada, but the subscription should not be presented as a confirmed way to access GTA 6.
Is GTA 6 coming to PS4 or Xbox One?
No. GTA 6 is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One.
The confirmed console platforms are PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. Official PlayStation information states that the game will not be playable on PS4.
There is no GTA 6 Xbox One release, and no upgrade or backward-compatibility route has been announced for that console.
Rockstar has not published a detailed technical explanation for excluding the older consoles. It is therefore safer to say that no last-generation versions are planned than to claim specific systems or features would be impossible to run.
When is the GTA 6 PC release date?
Rockstar has not announced a GTA 6 PC version or release date.
There is currently no confirmed GTA 6 release date for:
- Windows
- Steam
- Epic Games Store
- Rockstar Games Launcher
Previous Rockstar games arrived on PC after their console versions, but that history does not establish a GTA 6 PC date. The older article predicted a delay of approximately 18 months; that prediction has been removed because Rockstar has not confirmed a PC edition or schedule.
Rockstar has also not published GTA 6 PC system requirements. Processor, graphics-card, memory, storage and release-date estimates currently circulating online remain speculative.
⚠️ Avoid unofficial PC listings: Websites offering GTA 6 PC pre-orders, activation keys or downloadable builds are not selling an officially announced PC edition.
GTA 6 release date delays
The public GTA 6 release timeline has changed more than once since the first trailer appeared.
| Announcement stage | Public launch target | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Trailer 1 | 2025 | Replaced by a 2026 date |
| First exact date | 26 May 2026 | Delayed |
| Current date | 19 November 2026 | Official launch date |
Original GTA 6 release window: 2025
Trailer 1, released in December 2023, ended with a general 2025 release window. Rockstar did not announce an exact day or month at that stage.
First exact release date: 26 May 2026
Rockstar later moved GTA 6 out of 2025 and announced 26 May 2026 as its first exact release date.
Current release date: 19 November 2026
Rockstar subsequently delayed GTA 6 to 19 November 2026. This remains the current official release date.
Why was GTA 6 delayed?
Rockstar said it needed additional time to finish the game at the level of quality players expect.
The company has not published a detailed technical list of problems behind the delays. Unverified development budgets, revenue forecasts, individual features or production rumours should not be presented as the official reason.
Could GTA 6 be delayed again?
Another delay is always technically possible before a game launches, but Rockstar continues to list 19 November 2026 and has not announced a move into 2027.
🟢 Current status: GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
When can you preload GTA 6?
Digital pre-loading begins on 12 November 2026, one week before GTA 6 releases.
Pre-loading lets eligible buyers download the game files early, but it does not provide early access. The game becomes playable when it officially launches.
Rockstar has not announced the final GTA 6 download or installation size. Claims that the game requires 300GB—or any other specific amount of storage—remain unconfirmed.
Are GTA 6 pre-orders open?
Yes. GTA 6 pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026. The previous wording that the June pre-order date was “approaching fast” is now obsolete.
This release-date guide does not repeat the complete edition and bonus breakdown. For verified Canadian prices, see our dedicated GTA 6 price guide for Canada.
Has the GTA 6 map been released?
Rockstar has revealed Leonida as the GTA 6 setting and Vice City as its main metropolitan area, but it has not published a complete official top-down map.
The six major regions currently revealed by Rockstar are Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. The older article incorrectly listed Hamlet and Kelly County in place of Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.
Rockstar has not confirmed claims of more than 700 accessible interiors, exact map measurements or a complete county structure. Those details do not belong in a confirmed release-date guide.
What did the GTA 6 Extended Look confirm?
Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on 27 August 2026. The presentation runs for almost 27 minutes and was captured entirely from in-game footage on PS5.
The footage provided the clearest official look at GTA 6 so far, including Vice City, the wider state of Leonida, Jason and Lucia, driving, robberies and activities. It did not change the release date: GTA 6 remains scheduled for 19 November 2026.
Rockstar still describes GTA 6 as a single-player experience. It has not announced a GTA 6 online mode, cross-play system or 32-player multiplayer mode.
🔎 What was removed: The old 32-player claim, revenue forecasts, budget estimates and speculative development features were not supported by Rockstar’s current product information.
